Group Assignments for Fall 2007

Group Assignment 

Everyone: Do all of the homework problems in chapter 3, they will not be collected. They could show up on future quizzes or exams.

Everyone: After you do problem number 2, do the same exercise with a the amino acid that has been assigned to your group. 

• Atomic Bomb: Arginine
• Xmen: Glutamic Acid
• A Team: Tyrosine
• Catalysts: Lysine
• Smurfs: Histidine
• Tryptophan: Aspartic Acid
• TNT: Cysteine
• Yellow: Lysine

On one piece of paper:

1. Draw all of the ionization reactions for your amino acid. Be sure to show the net charge on each species.
2. Draw a complete titration curve for your amino acid.
3. Show what species predominates at each of the end points and midpoints of the titration curve.

Each page will be made into a transparency and then each group will have five (5) minutes (or less!) to share their titration curve with the class.

Deliver your one page sheet to Mrs. Press in N360 by 4:00 on Monday Sept 24th.  She will make a black and white transparency for you.  Be prepared to explain your transparency to the class on Wednesday Sept 26.
