Group/class activities
Chapter 1: Scavenger Hunt Questions.
Chapter 2: Highlights. Water topics, pH calculations, answers (new, improved!), bicarbonate problems. Try this review of the ICE method for solving weak acid problems. You may want to revisit the Buffer lab for CHEM 1110. Also, check out the problems on Dr. Booker's Penn State Biochemistry page. More buffer problems and answers.
Chapter 3: Titration of an amino acid. Also, start memorizing the structures, names, three letter and one letter codes for the amino acids. Also, you will need to know the pKa values for the amino acids that have ionizable side chains. (See the "Exercises" section for some useful links.)
Chapter 4: Collagen Diseases.
Chapter 6: The Parade of Mechanisms will take place on Wednesday, November 21st. Each group will present a mechanism using artistitic and theatrical flair. This is a parade, so it will be fun. Pre-thanksgiving snacks (fuel) will be provided for all parade participants.
Be sure to check this area often.
