Computer and Spreadsheet Definitions
| Mouse: | Click | Position the tip of the mouse pointer over the specified element, and then press and release the left mouse button one time. |
| Double Click | Position the tip of the mouse pointer over the specified element, and then press and release the left mouse button twice in quick succession. |
| Click and Hold | Position the tip of the mouse pointer over the specified element, and then press an hold the left mouse button. |
| Drag | Position the tip of the mouse pointer over the specified element, hold down the left mouse button, and move the mouse. |
| Right Click | Same as click, however the right button is pushed (PCs only) |
| Keyboard: | Escape (Esc) | escapes from previous menu |
| Delete (del) | Deletes letter to the right of line cursor |
| Backspace (BS) | Deletes letter to the left of line cursor |
| Enter or Return | Enters the data for evaluation by computer |
| Spreadsheet: | Menu | Bar on the top line of the screen containing items such as File, Edit, etc. (Each of which contains a Pull down list of more menu choices). |
| Tool | Buttons used to do different functions (i.e. print, copy, etc.) with single click |
| Tool Bar | Bar below the Menu containing tools |
| Dialog Box | When particular menus are chosen, a box will appear with several new choices. |
| Edit Line | Line in the spreadsheet where the data being entered is viewed and edited. |
| Cell | A section of the spreadsheet designated by a letter and a number. |
| Worksheet | A file containing cells in columns and rows. |
| Chart | A file containing plots of data from the worksheet. |
| Label | Any entry in a cell composed of letters or combinations of letters, numbers and symbols. |
| Value | A number, contains no labels. |
