The Heat of Combustion of Vegetable Oil

Purpose

The purpose of this experiment is to determine the heat of combustion of a vegetable oil. The purpose that you write must be specific. It must identify the specific oil that you used for your sample.

 

Conclusion

For the conclusion to this experiment, simply report the average value for the heat of combustion of your oil sample. Be sure that you identify which oil you used for your sample.

Extensions

The method used here can be used to measure the heat of combustion of other easily combustible food. Examples are nuts (walnuts, peanuts, etc.), and potato chips.
