Thesis Preparation Information

A copy of the booklet "Masters Degree Program Guidelines for Thesis or Project", published by the Graduate School Office at CSU Stanislaus should be used as a guideline for format of your thesis. A copy of the booklet is in the MLML library and its complete text (about 35 pps plus 11 pps of appendices) is at the web site above.

You need to follow instructions in this manual carefully for all aspects of thesis format. Chapter IV, pp 16-24; Chapter V, pp 25-32; and examples of various pages in Appendix A (Format of Title page*, Approval page, Table of Contents page, List of Tables page, List of Figures page, Abstract page) are especially useful.

*Note - The title page for MLML thesis is slightly different from the one in "Masters Degree Program Guidelines for Thesis or Project". The MLML thesis title page includes the phrase

"through

Moss Landing Marine Laboratories".

A copy of the MLML title page is available from Pam Roe. Additional MLML thesis deviations from the guidelines are that all Tables and Figures in Marine Science theses are typically grouped AFTER the Literature Cited Section rather than throughout the thesis (as described on pp 22 & 23 of the booklet). Additionally, MLML theses are not organized into chapters (see Guidelines Table of Contents page). Instead of chapters, list Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions as stand-alone items. If you have questions on other formatting requirements as stated in the booklet, please call me as you come to them.
