Biol 4960 - Biology Colloquium is an upper division, 1-unit, CR/NC, course that serves as an elective in B. A. and B. S. Biological Sciences programs. The format of the course is a series of guest lectures on various biological topics. These lectures provide information that might not be covered in classes, or covered in less depth. The lectures also expose students to in-depth research being done by guest lecturers and exposes students to potential employment opportunities.
Different faculty members have responsibility for this course every year. The last time I had it was spring 2002. In conjunction with the International Biodiversity Observation Year, the theme of Biology Colloquium in spring 2002 was "Biodiversity".
