  • Definitions: Back to Top

The Guides are chronological lists of the broadcast Star Trek shows. Each series is listed separately starting with the Original series and ending with the Voyager series. Within a series the episodes are in broadcast order. The movies are included between the Animated series and the Next Generation series.

The Grades and Summaries are original to and Copyright to John T Burt, 1996 or when written or published, whichever is most recent. The complete list and all sublists are "freeware" and provided they are not altered may be distributed except via commercial, shareware, CD-ROM and similar services.

The list is updated annually in batches in June/July or September/October.

File Names Start With A Series Code:

    • 1TOS = The Original Series
    • 2TAS = The Animated Series
    • 3MOV = The movies (each movie is treated as an episode
    • 4TNG = The Next Generation
    • 5DSN = Deep Space 9
    • 6VOY = Voyager

The fields are: Back to Top

    Season: (column label "S")
The season number from 1 up.

    Episode Number: (column label "E")
The episode number within a season. Values from 0 (zero) up. Each season has an intro with the episode number 0. These episode numbers should be the same as in other episode guides. In the TOS and TAS listings, the number is the production number. In the others it is representative of the broadcast sequence.

    Hour: (column label "Hr")
The cumulative hours broadcast within a series. Values from 0 (zero) up. Zero is used on the first season intro. Remaining season intros have a decimal value of ###.1 in order to maintain the sort. The hour values were generated as I watched each series. In most cases it should match the broadcast sequence of other guides but occasionally might not.

    Grade: (column label "Gd")
As a critic I rated each episode. The ratings are grades from A+ to F-. They do not represent show quality, which is high in most cases anyway. They only represent my personal likes and dislikes. The Animated series was not graded.

    Title: (column label "Title")
The episode title, in most cases, as it appeared on my screen.

    Summary: (column label "Summary")
As a critic I wrote a very brief summary of each episode to remind me what the show was about.

    Director: (column label "Director")
The director of the show in the form "Last Name, First Name."

    Writers: (column label "Writer...")
The last names of the writers of the show. No specific order was used.

    Air Date: (column label "Date")
The approximate air date taken from various sources. (This is a Text value, not a number BTW.)
